Emergency responders rushed to the scene of the crash on West Lake Boulevard at around 8:15 p.m. Friday, May 17. Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire, EMS, Heavy Rescue and Fire Police were dispatched.
Chief Brian Sacher took Incident Command for the second time in six hours as Captain Chris Tompkins handled Operations, said Jack Casey, Mahopac Falls VFD public information officer. Earlier in the day, four were hospitalized after a crash involving a car and school bus just as school was letting out at Mahopac High School.
In the evening crash, Fire Police closed West Lake Boulevard, located between Lake Mahopac and Kirk Lake, once all vehicles were on the scene. Multiple Carmel Police units were on the scene as were the medics from EMStar.
The lone occupant was out of the vehicle and stable, Casey said. The driver was transported to the hospital by Mahopac Falls ambulance and once the car was loaded on to the flatbed, Fire Police opened the road to traffic.
